Couch to 5K: Week 4

I am still doing C25K, but this week was a little hard for me.

Not because I can’t do the runs (he he he, I have the mind of a 5-year-old!), but because when I get even just a little too much on my plate I get majorly stressed and just want to curl up into a ball and go to sleep.

The biggest thing on my mind lately is my car. I have had it up for sale since Monday morning and have had quite a bit of interest (but no offers). I don’t really like answering my phone when it’s an unknown number, so that has taken some getting used to. I also do not like arranging a time to meet someone and having them flake. Maybe it’s just me, but I think that’s incredible rude!

I have also been cat sitting. Last week for some friends of the family and this week for my friend, A. (yes, for the cat that attacked me. We are cool now). In and of itself the cat sitting isn’t too hard. It’s the dragging my butt to and from their houses that’s the hard part.

Those two things have just seemed to consume all my free time this week and I was only able to complete one run.

On a high note, however, I ran for 5 minutes straight 3 times! Yay!

I have not really been following the exact C25K program. I am about a week ahead in running times. I just sort of push myself for as long as I can and this weeks that seems to be 5 minutes. I am sure that when it gets to the 15-20 minute runs I will have to scale down a little for the first few sessions. Many people tailor it to their needs and so am I!

I think the reason I decided to write this post today was because I am debating whether to go run now and at least get 2 sessions in this week, or to blow it off and clean my room (it’s a disaster zone).

Obviously, writing this post has made me decide to go run (that was my intention!). Although, cleaning my room is still on the agenda (at least if I want clean clothes to wear this week!).

Wish me luck!

  1. I am on week 2. I’ve got the most fierce shin splints. Did you get any pain when starting running?

    • I still have tons of pain, mostly in the muscles on the backs of my calves. Whatever those are called. I sort of just suffer through it, but I think that as my run times get longer I am going to have to try and figure out what is going on. I am on week 5 now and I don’t think I can go much further with the amount of pain I am in. Maybe I need to stretch better. Who knows. Good luck on C25K!
