I may not have gotten to see the real thing while in Chicago (see this post), but in a weird coincidence, George Suerat’s “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” made an appearance today while I was browsing NPR.
This meme, and hundreds of others, comes in response to a story out of California’s UC Davis, where on Nov. 18th, a campus police Lt. pepper sprayed a line of sitting, non-violent Occupy Wall Street protestors.
I am not posting to make light of the situation, which I think is despicable, but I do have to admit that I chuckled a little when I saw the image of the ‘Casually Pepper Spraying Cop’ macing the face of the woman in the painting.
Here’s another from the same blogger, Jockohomo:
Tumblr is full of them.
Bet this cop never imagined the shit storm he was going to cause!
That is all.
*In case you don’t know what a meme is (and I didn’t until not too long ago): an Internet meme is “a piece of content or an idea that’s passed from person to person, changing and evolving along the way.”
