Girl Meets Bulgaria

Musings of an American expat in Bulgaria (with detours in Utah and Alaska)

On Rotation

Shhh. I don’t want to jinx it, but the internet has actually been working in my room for a few weeks now.

Which means Spotify has made its way back into my daily routine.

After months of sitting on my butt in Bulgaria working, blogging, and surfing, I definitely think I needed a few months to unplug a bit and fill my mind (and time) with other things. Alaska is certainly the perfect place to do just that.

That being said, it’s nice being “back on the grid” a little more. I can actually work again (SEO article writing), blog again (albeit only here and there) and, of course, fall in love with new (to me) bands and albums.

Here’s what’s floatin’ my boat these days…

Emeli Sandé – Next to Me

Emeli Sandé – Wonder (Original Mix)

I LOVE her unique sound and catchy lyrics.

John Mayer – Shadow Days

John Mayer – The Age of Worry

Some people give me crap for it, but I adore John Mayer. Always have. Can’t see it changing anytime soon! This new album is good-not my favorite of his, but still really good.

: : :

La Roux – Bulletproof

This is such a catchy song. Sounds totally 80s to me.

: : :

Neon Hitch – Bad Dog

Yeah. I like it. So what?! It’s totally going on my workout mix (for my hypothetical workouts)

A friend turned me on to this song. I admit it took me some time to warm up to it, but now I really like it. The music video is unique, to say the least. Haven’t listened to much of the rest of the album; it’s a tad out there for my tastes (which is funny because my tastes would totally be described as “out there!”)

My obsession with all things folk rock/bluegrass continues…

Johnny Flynn;Laura Marling – The Water (feat. Laura Marling)

This is a great song for a rainy Denali day (which is everyday recently). Great album overall, actually.

And finally…

What kind of music post would this be if I didn’t mention my Mumford & Sons?!

My heart broke a little when I missed their recent concert in SLC. One day, M&S. One day!

Mumford & Sons – To Darkness

I really enjoy world music and exotic instrumentals; this EP (Dharohar Project) combines that with the sounds and lyrics of Mumford and Sons. I dig it. Hardcore.

: : :

OK. Enough for now! If you check out any of the songs, stop back by and let me know what you think (good or bad)!

What’s on your rotation right now? Come on guys! Turn me on… to some new music! 😉
