Girl Meets Bulgaria

Musings of an American expat in Bulgaria (with detours in Utah and Alaska)

On Rotation

It’s been quite awhile since my last On Rotation post, so I figured I’d update you all on the music I’ve been enjoying lately.

I love reading posts like these from other bloggers because there is nothing better then being turned on to new bands or rediscovering old loves. Hopefully you find something here that is right up your alley!

The Lumineers – Ho Hey

Absolutely my favorite song and music video of the moment (those hats, white shirts, and suspenders? SEXY AS HELL!). I instantly think of my cute husband when I hear it because he calls me “sweetheart.”

Phoenix – 1901

This is one of those songs you here everywhere for awhile and you find yourself humming or singing it under your breath randomly. Then it goes away and you forget about it…until hearing it playing full blast in the mall and it’s stuck in your head again!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Maps

I was obsessed with this song during my freshman year of college. I think I had it on repeat for at least 3 months straight! I heard it recently for the first time in years and it brought back a lot of memories.

Of Monsters and Men – King and Lionheart

Of Monsters and Men – Little Talks

This band out of Iceland is incredible. Their simple sound is beyond beautiful. I have really been loving them lately. I definitely recommend you give them a listen. Every song is a work of art.

Mumford and Sons – Lover of the Light

You probably get it by now. I love M&S. And while I really do like this song (a lot) the music video is actually why I am posting. It’s just so powerful.

And, of course, I would be a poor excuse for an expat in Bulgaria if I didn’t at least listen to a little chalga! I contemplated posting an Azis video, but couldn’t find one even semi-appropriate. If you are curious, just search for Azis on YouTube; you can’t miss him!

What are you listening to lately? Send recommendations my way!
